A quick update: The next trip has had to be postponed until Sunday 22nd November, due to some changes in circumstances in Calais. We are unable to accept any more donations until after this visit.
Also, due to a significant increase in numbers (now 5,000), distribution has become more difficult so there are changes in our plans for the next trip as follows:
• Speed of distribution is critical. In order that we get the maximum of critically needed items to the most people we are only taking out 2 items:
1. Quality men’s thick winter jackets packed in separate boxes, large medium and small.
2. Quality men’s trainers packed in boxes sizes: sizes 40-44 (6.5-9.5)
• Cash donations will be used to purchase items as above, e.g. trainers @ £3.99 and good outdoors jackets @ £10
• We will not be forgetting the women and already have sufficient items for them that will be distributed separately.
There will be a full report from our trip last Sunday (27th September), which will be posted soon.
Trip 8 will now take place on Sunday 22nd November.
Thank you for helping the asylum seekers in Calais, which is becoming an increasingly desperate, unpleasant, forsaken and squalid place as winter progresses.

Hi Are you still needing volunteers to go to Calais or to help sort out items. I came to sort last time and can help again. I may be able to go to Calais this time. Annabel

Hi Everyone, sorry for the late response.
There has been a change of plans due to a couple of complications arising in Calais, that have made distribution a little more difficult. As a result, we will not be going out until Sunday 22nd November.
Annabel - We may have space on the 22nd November if you wanted to join us. Please contact Lin on 01727 817 294 opt 3 as she will be able to help.
Janet - Yes. We are only taking men's trainers (sizes 6.5 to 9.5) and jackets (small to large). We are also accepting cash donations which will be used to purchase the aforementioned items in bulk. Please contact Lin on 01727 817 294 opt 3 and she will be able to assist.
Pat - I'm afraid to say that we are not accepting duvets or pillows as these are not wanted in the camp (they are not ideal in the wet conditions). We will accept blankets which will be taken to the L'Auberge des Migrants warehouse. Please contact Lin on 01727 817 294 opt 3 to make arrangements for donating.
Gabriella & Luke - Thank you for your offers. We may have spaces available in one of the vehicles we will be taking out on the 22nd November. Please contact Lin on 01727 817 294 opt 3 as she will be able to help.
Stephen - I will keep yourself and Giorgio in the loop, and we look forward to seeing you on the 22nd!

Leila - sad that you can't make it again - you were a star last time out! We'll keep you in the loop for future trips and packing days, though!

Hi there!
Are you likely to request the same kind of items for your December trip and thus we can start scheduling drop outs of donations from 23rd November, or shall we wait for more information? We are making an appeal at church and I know there will be responses but we need to give a week for donations to be brought to church and then another week to drop them out.
Thanks and all the best for your November trip!

Do you need any help with sorting and packing before your next trip?

Claire - Whilst we anticipate we will probably be asking for the same items for donations, we can't be certain until we've been out. It may become apparent whilst we're that that there are other items that they are in greater need of, so if you would be happy to hold fire we'll update you in due course.
Janis - We are fine for sorting and packing ahead of this week's trip, but we will probably need help with the next trip! We will keep you updated, of course!
